Influencer Marketing - A Fad Or The Future Of Marketing? - Miles Beckler

Influencer Marketing - A Fad Or The Future Of Marketing?

In Yesterday's video about Influencer marketing I asked a quick comment-survey...

The options were simple...

"Yes, Influencer marketing is here to stay..."

Or "No, Influencer marketing is a fad..."

If you missed the video with the 7 tips for influencer marketing, it is still quite good, regardless what you think about influencers.

But right now, back to the non-scientific comment survey...

The majority of people who responded feel that some variation of influencer marketing is going to be here to stay for the long term.

And many people referenced what we used to call 'endorsements' back in the day, stating that influencer marketing is just an evolution of that.

Like when Michael Jordan signed the Nike deal...

And truly, influencer marketing is similar to affiliate marketing, but with one big GAP.

Influencers are rarely adding any real, tangible value to their audiences beyond entertainment.

Great affiliates educate their audiences...

The top influencers take selfies...

It gets a little narcissistic, to say the least... And some of the people at the influence event were hilarious to watch, to be honest.

But the key take away I got from the survey...

And from the conference is...

When you have the attention of an audience and the ability to persuade them to take action...

There is value there.

Regardless of what kind of content you publish!

Now, I think it is easier to grow a large audience who knows/likes/trusts you based on giving value...

Helping people solve their problems...

Helping your audience achieve their goals...

But it turns out there are many ways to gain attention.

And as conversion DATA becomes a bigger requirement for brands who leverage influencers.

Gone will be the days of paid posts that only trigger fake subscribers, fake engagement...

Which is what I think of when I think 'influencer marketing'

But I'm no wanna-be celebrity.

I don't want my life (or selfies) to look cool.

I just want to help you grow a business that affords you the FREEDOM you desire.

So I'll stick with affiliate and information marketing, personally.

Another thing that became super clear...

The world of affiliate marketing and info-products is WAY more lucrative than influence.

So there is a correlation to the value you offer others and the income you earn in return.

Gawd I love these data tid-bits that prove the 'cool kid' approach isn't nearly as lucrative as the nerdy approach.

😉

Cheers.
