The “Fake Guru Conspiracy” That’s Messing With Your Mindset

This post will expose a marketing conspiracy designed to confuse you, lie to you and trick you into purchasing products that won't help you along your path.

In addition, you will learn what you need to do in order to protect yourself from this through a quick audit on your mindset and expectations.

Because… if you’ve been following the ‘wrong people’ online you may be thinking there is some magic “Passive Income System” you can join or follow that will make this whole make money online thing seem easy.

Although the concepts can be simple, growing a business online through internet marketing is difficult and takes hard work.

The problem?

“Hard work” doesn't sell and the ‘fake gurus' have never been through the process of building a niche authority site… They just regurgitate false promises and tactics they read on a forum and never tested.

Mix this with some of the world's best copywriters and high affiliate payouts and you have the recipe for a ‘High Ticket' product that will leave you with more questions than answers and a lot less money in your pocket.

You see…. Passive income and ‘money getting systems’ that are touted by fake-ass gurus who talk a big game are false idols and marketing ploys designed to bypass your logical mind and trigger your irrational and emotional mind to purchase.

Here is a post about Passive Income and these fake gurus if you haven't caught on to their shady tricks yet…
The biggest challenge with these kinds of systems is obviously that they don’t work… But at a deeper level, they are an attack on your subconscious mind.

Installing the belief that there is some sort of ‘system’ out there or ‘trick’ or ‘secret’ that will get you the lifestyle you desire, fast and with zero effort and no time required is DANGEROUS at best.

People using ‘Mansions in Beverly Hills’ talking about ‘books and knowledge’ while showing images of Ferrari’s, Lamborghini’s and Rolls Royce’s are a perfect example of this.

Anyone standing on a tropical beach talking about their nomadic lifestyle and their ‘marketing training and marketing system’ are the next most common example of this.

Finally, anyone who is publishing their ‘Monthly income reports’ should be approached with extreme caution and skepticism.

These are all mindset fucks that are designed to make you feel like you ‘need what they have’ by making you feel pain through realizing the ‘lack’ in your life.

So what is the truth?

It takes strategic effort and there is no ‘system’ out there that can duplicate or replicate or magically get you a mansion in the Hills of Beverly filled with supercars.

Your mindset needs to grow strong enough to ignore those B.S. YouTube ads and email pitches you are bound to encounter.

You need to protect your inbox and get quick to use the ‘Unsubscribe’ button and setup a spammable gmail account to get yourself off marketing email lists…

You also need to be ready to take on the learning curve and embrace trial and error as your greatest teacher….

Here are two quick videos I’ve created for you to help you really ‘get it’ at a deep level.

And… Where do you get the kind of persistence and perseverance to make it through the learning curve and to keep going after bouts of trial and error?

Most important…

You need a powerful reason why you are doing this!

This may very well be the most important piece of the whole puzzle… And as one mentor taught me, “When the ‘why' is big enough, the ‘how' will appear…”

Your why needs to be much bigger than making money… the more personal the better.

Why is it 100% REQUIRED for you to succeed at this?

The answer to that question holds the power to make this all work for you.

You also need to shift your focus from ‘getting money’ to being of service to the audience you can best serve!

We will talk more about your audience, soon… but really, you need to make the mental shift to focus more on giving of yourself than trying to get from people.

If you just ‘dabble’ you will fail… I 100% guarantee that…

This video explains it better:

Having a morning routine will help you greatly, too… Start every day off with intention!

Having tools and resources to ‘shift’ your energy when you have challenges… I prefer time in nature, whether it is walking, hiking, surfing, snowboarding… Doesn’t really matter.

I know this has been a long post and I appreciate your time…

If it seems like I've really been ‘beating up' this concept, you are right. That has 100% been my goal!

Strengthening your mindset, staying focused on your ‘Why' while eliminating distractions and creating routines that serve you and ‘boost' you is the trick, for sure.

Miles I just found you and have been watching your videos and reading your blog. I really enjoy your content. I recently signed up for one of these programs that may be this “fake guru” you speak of. On the positive side it has opened me up to Affiliate Marketing, but I don’t think I”ll be signing up for their upsells. Thank you for your content, you look like an honest guy. Keep up the great work. You are inspirational.

Thanks Miles – really refreshing.

I’ve been neck-deep in learning the in’s and out’s of digital/internet marketing the last few months. REALLY deep. There’s a LOT of noise and nonsense out there.

Having spent 15 years in the ‘conventional’ offline business world, it’s particularly repulsive observing young, jonny-come-lately’s peddling special secrets to success…especially where it is so evident their own ‘success’ comes from selling whatever basic business-principles or tactics that are, in and of themselves, no panaceas.

That said, i’ve personally always (and continue) to struggle with the ‘why’. Even though I 100% believe it (well, maybe 99% ;). Simon Sinek’s famount YT on the matter is inspirational in this regard.

If you have any advice on how to answer that question with CLARITY, it would be much appreciated….

Wishing you every success
Roham

Psychologically were all triggered to try to look for shortcuts and even when we know that it takes hard work over long periods of time and discipline… The idea of a “pushbutton system” has a deeply emotional and psychological triggering affects that work. This has been true since the birth of advertising, all the way back to direct mail, magazine ads, radio in the 1930s, etc.

These Johnny-come-lately’s may catch a little flash in the pan success, but deep down until they fix their mindset they won’t achieve true lifestyle fulfillment. For me, I’m all about the lifestyle fulfillment and I’m willing to forgo short-term income by telling the cold hard truth is often and loudly as possible.

The cold hard truth is that creating a successful online business takes a lot more work than 90% of people are willing to put in… Johnny-come-lately can’t sell that because it’s not sexy. So he sells what he can which is false hopes dreams and desires and I know that in a month or year he’ll be gone never to resurface again because everybody realizes he’s a complete phony except for the 5% of people were further behind the ball than he is.

Integrity is everything am happy to be on the right side of history on this one

Dear Miles, love this article and all your content!
One thing that you didn’t mention regarding the morning routine or the broader word “habit”, is that many people feel overwhelmed when they try to form more than one new habit at once. That’s the reason why some people fail. It would be possibly the best to just focus on one new habit at first, am I right?

Definitely a ‘know thyself’ kind of thing… I believe the brain is able to change multiple habits at once. Spending 3 months in New Zealand with a rental car I had to change the habit of which side of the car I drove on, the side of the road, the side the indicators and windshield wipers were on. Obviously an extreme example, but it is possible.

The challenge becomes the amount of willpower it takes, and in my extreme example, that whole ‘life or death’ thing about driving was the leverage I needed.

Sometimes when we hit rock bottom we can find extra leverage on ourselves to make big changes in many areas, too…

But in a general sense, I do agree with you that people who take on too much change and don’t have enough ‘leverage’ on themselves can get overwhelmed by the amount of energy it takes and can give up.

But, the brain can handle it and can re-wire multiple things at once… Have you heard of Dr. Joe Dispenza? His book ‘Breaking The Habit Of Being Yourself’ is a very interesting read in this area… I like his stuff and his story is crazy amazing.

Miles,

Another excellent thought provoking video! I watched enough of your stuff to know you are the real deal. One of those rare people who really wants to help people break through their challenges and acomplish their dreams. You probably already know Tony Robbins says “If you have a big enough Why, you will figure out the How”. Many people feel stuck in life like their dreams are out of reach but with a BIG enough why they can accomplish what many consider Iimpossible.

Speaking of stuck, it’s time with your help I break through. Back in 2008 I started my first site with Site Build It. The training was good which is even taught at some colleges but since it is a closed system unlIke WordPress I soon felt limited with my options plus I no longer liked my domain name. This led me to switch to WordPress X theme because they have so many options but that’s the new challenge. Instead of building my site I’ve been endlessly
researching the best WordPress plug-ins for building my own membership site with e-learning and affiliate programs. As you know the options are almost limitless.

1) I know you use Thrive themes but can X theme with plug-ins match or surpass Thrive themes for creating a membership site with effective sales funnels and affiliate plan?

2) If so what are they?

3) And I know you left Click funnels but does Thrive themes offer funnels that get you results as well as Click funnels?

4) Are you missing any important features like actionetics ect?

5) Then there is Clickbank that could handle all my billing ect. Does this make the most sense?
All I have for my own products is one book so far that could use some tweeking.

6) Maybe I need to just simply things and sell someone else’s products. Do you think this might be the best option?

I don’t want to keep switching platforms or I’ll never make any progress but I need some real help deciding what system is the best for me. Bottom line: I want a system that is simple yet powerful and need to get unstuck!

P.S. Do you still have a membership site on building an online business or are you just offering affiliate produts?

Thanks

Thanks for your kind words… Huge comment, can’t get to all of them, but go here to see my marketing funnel stacks: http://www.milesbeckler.com/three-marketing-stacks-tools-trade/

Stick with wordpress and don’t worry too much about ‘switching’ as ‘generating cashflow’ is more important than hypothetical situations.

Thanks so much for speaking the truth, Miles. My head has literally been spinning from all the content out there from marketers. I have good instincts but still find it hard who to believe. And am shocked so many fall for the rented lambos and gurus on tropical beached surrounded by bikini clad women. Keep speaking the truth brother, that’s where the value is and guys like you will surely rise to the top. Continued success!
